Synthroid, a thyroid hormone, is used to treat hypothyroidism, a condition where the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone. Thyroxine is a synthetically manufactured thyroid hormone. It,s affect is similar to that of natural Thyroxine(L-T4) in the thyroid gland.
